Community Yard Sale - VFW Post 8169 on route 6 E – Saturday, April 7th – 8am until 1pm

Reserve your table indoors for the yard sale $10. Includes one long table and a little floor room around it.

If it is good weather you can set up outside for $10 and use a larger space in the grass area out front.This event is rain or shine. Spots are available on a first come first serve basis by reservation. All vendors/sellers are responsible for taking away any unsold and or unwanted items and/or trash. The VFW AUX is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

Saturday, May 5, 2018 – Benefits Scottsville Elementary School – 8:00 a.m.

The Scottsville Scoot 1-mile kids run and 5k race for runners and walkers will be held on Saturday, May 5th beginning at 8:00 am. The race proceeds will benefit the Scottsville Elementary PTO. All proceeds of this race will benefit Scottsville Elementary School students by funding educational and enrichment opportunities (assemblies, field trips, and classroom projects), community outreach for those in need, and special classroom supplies. The purpose of the event is to promote healthy active living in the Scottsville School and Southern Albemarle communities while raising funds for Scottsville Elementary.

Students will participate in a running club for 4 weeks in preparation for the 1-mile fun run. Race registration forms are available at the Scottsville Branch Library and online at:

JABA Senior Center - Every Wednesday – 9:30am–2pm

On Wednesdays from 9:30am until 2:00pm the Senior Center is open at the Scottsville Community Center. Activities include music, presentations, crafts, exercise, visits from Scottsville Elementary students, trips, puzzles and bingo. A hot lunch is served at noon. Anyone aged 60+ is invited and anyone younger than 60 is welcome to volunteer!

Every Second Friday - Scottsville United Methodist Church – 6:30PM to 8:30PM

Scottsville United Methodist Church will host its monthly FREE Family Game Night every Friday in the church's fellowship hall at 158 Main Street. Annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration for 2018

Sponsored by the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Scottsville - Wednesday July 4th, 2017 - Grand Marshall will be announced around parade time

  • ·         Parade at 9:00 a.m.
  • ·         Vendors at Dorrier Park during the day.
  • ·         Awards Ceremony at Dorrier Park : 5:45pm

  • ·         Fireworks at dusk.

The Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department parade will proceed from James River Road (east) down Valley Street (Route 20) to East Main Street (Route 6).  These streets will be closed from 8:45 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.

There will be no parking on Harrison Street from 6:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  Any vehicles parked on Harrison Street during this time will be towed.

Road Closure Information:  Starting at 7:30 a.m. James River Road between Blenheim Road and Valley Street will be limited to parade traffic only.  Traffic on James River Road will flow from Blenheim Road towards Valley Street.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. the following roads will be closed to traffic:

  • ·         James River Road between Blenheim Road and Valley Street
  • ·         Valley Street between James River Road and East Main Street
  • ·         East Main Street between Valley Street and Poplar Spring Road

Scottsville Pool (info here is for last year, we will update this when we have more info)

Join the newly renovated Scottsville Pool this season! Members will enjoy the refreshing, clear water with their friends, have fun at scheduled parties throughout the summer, and watch movies on select Friday nights on the outdoor "big screen." We'll have pick up soccer for kids on Tuesday evenings and sand volleyball for adults and young adults on Wednesday evenings.

This summer, water aerobics classes were taught by Jeanne Morris held for members and non-members on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11 am from Tuesday June 9 until Thursday July 16. Cost was $36 for members, $42 for nonmembers for the entire session or half those rates if your schedule only allowed you to come once a week. One on one swim lessons by certified lifeguard Autumn Diggs were also being offered this summer.

DanVan Clief Nature Park - entrance way is at the corners of Jefferson Street and Valley Street . Walking traffic only. With a fishing license you can fish for trout or catfish. Open year round, but you cannot camp there yet.
